IC 552 is a lens-shaped galaxy of the Hubble type S0 in the constellation Leo on the ecliptic . It is an estimated 256 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 75,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 2984 , IC 556 , IC 557 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on April 23, 1892 .
