OSCAR 26

OSCAR 26 is an Italian amateur radio satellite for packet radio .

The satellite was launched on September 26, 1993 as a secondary payload with an Ariane 4 rocket in the Kourou spaceport . After the successful launch, the satellite previously known as ITAMSAT was assigned the OSCAR number 26. The satellite is equipped with a bulletin board that enabled partial -route Internet traffic . It has four uplinks in the 2 m band and two downlinks in the 70 cm band . Its COSPAR designation is 1993-061D.
