The Interstate 235 (abbreviated I-235 ), also MacVicar Freeway is an interstate highway in the US state of Iowa . It begins on Interstate 35 and Interstate 80 in West Des Moines and ends at these again in Ankeny . Major cities on the interstate are West Des Moines, Windsor Heights, and Des Moines . The interstate is also named in honor of the two mayors of Des Moines, John MacVicar Sr. and John MacVicar Jr. (1942–1948), MacVicar Freeway.
