The Iraqi national soccer team first took part in the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow when they moved up for Malaysia, which boycotted the games because of the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan , and was able to reach the quarter-finals, where they were eliminated by defending champions GDR . After that, the senior national team took part twice without being able to survive the group stage again. In 2004, the U-23 team qualified for the first time and took fourth place. The team was able to qualify again for 2016.

Lebanon did not play for the games against Turkey after the two defeats against Iraq, the games were counted as victories for Turkey, which qualified as group winners as group winners for the Olympic Games in Rome .

1964

Iran then qualified for the Tokyo Olympics in two games against India .
