JYP Jyväskylä ( JYP for short ) is a Finnish ice hockey club from Jyväskylä that plays in the Liiga . The team's home arena is the LähiTapiola Areena .
history
The club was founded in 1923 as a general sports club under the name Jyväskylän Palloilijat (JyP). In 1977 the ice hockey department split off from the club and henceforth called itself JyP HT . In 1999 the first team's game operations were outsourced to a joint stock company , JYP Jyväskylä Oy . The team won the Finnish championship for the first time in 2009 . Her greatest success up until then was two SM-liiga runners-up in 1989 and 1992.
