The Jaguar C-X75 is a hybrid electric concept vehicle from the British car manufacturer Jaguar . The sports car was presented on the occasion of the company's 75th anniversary.

Vehicle technology

The Jaguar C-X75 is powered by four electric wheel hub motors , each weighing 50 kg, with a combined output of 572 kW (778 hp) and a maximum torque of 1578 lb-ft (2139 Nm). The lithium-ion accumulator battery weighs 185 kg and stores 15 kWh. Two diesel- powered micro gas turbines from Bladon Jets with 95 bhp (71 kW) each generate electricity and thus serve to extend the range . The car can travel 70 miles (113 km) purely electrically.

In May 2011 Jaguar announced that it would develop a limited production series of the Jaguar C-X75 with a turbocharged gasoline engine instead of gas turbines from 2013 to 2015. An electric motor each should drive the front and rear axles. The price of the plug-in hybrid has been estimated at around £ 700,000–900,000 (the equivalent of around 960,000–1,230,000 euros ), depending on taxes and the local market. A maximum of 250 cars were planned in cooperation with the Formula 1 team Williams F1 . The expected all-electric range of the production version was 50 km. In December 2012, the automobile manufacturer announced that it would cancel the project due to the ongoing economic crisis .

C-X75 in the film

The Jaguar C-X75 was seen in the 2015 24th James Bond film Specter in a chase through Rome as the car of the opponent Mr. Hinx . Jaguar delivered seven vehicles to the film producers. Although they look very similar to the Jaguar C-X75, they are unrelated to the concept of Jaguar . According to JLR Special Vehicle Operations chief John Edwards, the vehicles are built around a tubular frame to withstand the rigors of stunt shooting. Five of the cars were roadworthy and powered by a 550 hp 5.0 liter AJ V8 from the Jaguar F-Type SVR . In addition, the vehicles were equipped with chassis components from the rally version of the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup and sequential 7-speed transmissions from the McLaren 650S GT3 . Two of them with full cockpits for close-ups. All five stunt cars survived the recordings fully functional.
