Jeffrey Szwez (born June 16, 1981 in Etobicoke , Ontario ) is a Canadian - German ice hockey player who is currently under contract with EA Schongau in the Bavarian Ice Hockey League .
Career
Jeffrey Szwez began his career as a hockey player at the Streetsville Derbys, for which he was active in the 2000/01 season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League . He then spent a year with the Kitchener Rangers in the Ontario Hockey League and was able to convince with 58 points in 69 games. For the 2002/03 season, the winger moved to the Augusta Lynx from the East Coast Hockey League , but also made nine appearances for the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League . The following season he began with the Dayton Bombers , but was in the following year and a half with their league rival Florence Pride , who changed his name to Pee Dee Pride in 2004, under contract. He finished the 2004/05 season at his ex-club Dayton Bombers in the ECHL, but was also on the ice in three games for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the AHL.
From 2005 Szwez played parallel for the Dayton Bombers in the ECHL and their cooperation partner Syracuse Crunch in the AHL. Towards the end of the 2007/08 season , however, he switched to the Espoo Blues from the Finnish SM-liiga and only failed with his new club in the playoff final at Kärpät Oulu . For the following season , the left shooter returned to North America and played for the Philadelphia Phantoms in the AHL. In the 2009/10 season he scored 61 scorer points in a total of 45 games, including 39 goals, in the British Elite Ice Hockey League for the Belfast Giants , with whom he was champion of the EIHL playoffs. In addition, he was elected to the First All-Star Team of the EIHL because of his season that was also successful for him personally.
For the 2010/11 season , the German-Canadian was signed by the Augsburg Panthers from the German Ice Hockey League . In December 2011 he asked to terminate his contract and played from January 13, 2012 with the Ravensburg Towerstars in the 2nd Bundesliga. For the 2012/13 season Szwez moved to EHC Freiburg in the Oberliga Süd. This season he was the Wolves' best player with 23 goals and 26 assists. In the choice of Player of the Year, Jeff Szwez took third place. After a year with the Belfast Giants, he returned to the German Ice Hockey League and played for ERC Ingolstadt in the 2014/15 season . In September 2015 he moved within the league to the Krefeld Pinguinen , but where he could not meet the expectations placed on him and the contract was terminated by mutual agreement in December 2015. Two weeks later, Szwez signed a contract with the Dresdner Eislöwen from the DEL2 until the end of the season .
