Johann Paul Heumann

Johann Paul Heumann (* 1703 in Hannover ; † 14. December 1759 ) was a German court - carpenters and Oberhof builder .

Life

The Marstallbrücke from 1736 is one of the most famous works by Heumann.
The orangery in the Great Garden of Herrenhausen was renovated in 1739

Johann Paul was born as the son of Hermann Heumann from Wiedensahl , who worked as a farm joiner in Hanover from 1701. In 1725 Johann Paul Heumann took the citizenship oath for the city of Hanover and took over the office of his father.

After the birth of his son Johann Dietrich in 1728, Heumann received a state scholarship with which he traveled to France and Italy for training . Back in Hanover, in 1736 he succeeded the court architect Tobias Henry Reetz, who had retired due to illness . In addition to his initial salary of 600 Reichstalers , Heumann received 3 Reichstaler diets for work outside of Hanover.

Between 1730 and 1740, Heumann is said to have also worked in Dreilützow (today a district of Wittendbod ),

In 1746 Heumann was appointed chief master builder. When his health deteriorated from 1758 onwards, his son was partly relieved of his work.
