The Junkers K 37 was a low- wing fighter aircraft designed by the German manufacturer Junkers, which was based on the Junkers S 36 test aircraft .

history

The K 37 was a cantilever low wing aircraft in all-metal construction with a rigid landing gear. The machine was manufactured from a Junkers S 36 in the Junkers branch in Limhamn in Sweden in 1927 . The originally civil version of the S 36 was made suitable for the military by installing four machine guns. One movable machine gun was located in the upper bow segment and in the back of the central part of the fuselage. Furthermore, it was possible to fire downwards by opening a bottom flap. A maximum bomb load of 500 kg could be carried under the wings. The engine consisted of two Siemens Jupiter VI engines with a starting power of 1020 HP (750 kW). Two versions were planned, a land version with landing gear and a water version with floats. The crew consisted of 3 men. The command posts and the cockpit were still without a pulpit.

The first two Junkers K 37 had the Swedish license plates S-AABL and S-AABP. The S-AABP was sold to the Japanese armed forces together with the reproduction license in 1932 and formed the basis for the Ki-1 and Ki-2 bomber series built in 1935 for the Japanese aircraft manufacturer Mitsubishi Nainenki Kabushiki Kaisha .
