The Junkers G 23 was a three-engine, as low-wing aircraft out deliberate airliner of the Junkers aircraft factory from the 1920s. It was the less motorized variant of the G 24 and could carry nine passengers with a crew of two.
history
Junkers had been planning to build a multi-engine airliner since 1920. The G 24 designed in 1923 with three 145 kW (195 hp) Junkers L 2 engines was rejected in the same year by the Inter-Allied Aviation Monitoring Commission (ILÜK) because its overall engine output contradicted the provisions of the Versailles Peace Treaty . As an alternative design, the G 23 was then created with a Junkers L 2 engine in the bow and two 120 kW (160 hp) Mercedes D IIIa engines on the wings. However, the first flight on September 23, 1924 ended with a break on landing.
The aircraft offered space for 9 passengers in comfortable individual seats. The cabin had lighting and heating. In the rear part of the cabin was the luggage compartment and a wet room with toilet and sink.
Most of the G 23 were brought up to the G 24 level in Limhamn by AB Flygindustri , the Swedish subsidiary of Junkers Flugzeugwerke, and most of them came back to Germany with foreign registration. This practice ceased to exist after the power restrictions for the engines ceased to exist in May 1926.
