The Junkers J 8 aircraft is a two-seat, slightly enlarged version of the Junkers J 9 and was developed in parallel to this from the Junkers J 7 . The essential design of the J 8 corresponds to the J 9. Its engine was a 118 kW Mercedes D III .
history
Only one copy of the J 8 was built, which made its maiden flight on December 10, 1917 . The intended use was primarily intended for artillery observation and fire control, but also for use as a reconnaissance aircraft. As CL.8 they should as attack aircraft types previously used or ground attack aircraft Halberstadt CL.II and CL.IV replace. In 1918, work on the J 8 was canceled and the further development of the Junkers J 10 was intensified. This was only planned as an attack aircraft and should require fewer resources for ongoing operations.
