The Ju 252 was a three-engine passenger / transport aircraft made by the German manufacturer Junkers Flugzeug- und Motorenwerke ; the first flight took place on June 5, 1942. This machine with its three engines in low-wing design was the designated successor to the Junkers Ju 52 / 3m , with a passenger capacity of 32 people. A total of only 15 pieces were built. Since too many war-essential materials were used, this project was canceled and the Junkers Ju 352 was developed .
history
As one of the first aircraft of its time, a pressurized cabin for altitudes of up to 8000 m was planned for the Ju 252 from the outset. The design, which was originally based on the non-built Junkers EF 77 draft aircraft, was enlarged again after the prototype phase . According to the demands of the war , a larger transport capacity was required. This led to extensive redesigns, some of which were carried out in the Letov factories in Prague . In 1940 the prototype was ordered from Junkers. The first three Ju 252 V1-V3 machines were designated as variant A-0. Interestingly, all machines of this type were built as prototype aircraft; real series production was not started.
Since the Junkers Ju 52 / 3m still served its purpose quite well at this point in time, the project was implemented with a lower priority level. After the flight tests, the RLM only commissioned 25 units of this type, which had a loading ramp. This order was later reduced to twelve aircraft of the Ju 252 A-1 (V4 – V15) series for the reasons mentioned above. In 1944 a Ju 252 was in the inventory of the IV Group of Transport Wing 4 .
