The Junkers R 42 was a German bomber from the 1920s.
development
The R 42 was the military version of the Junkers G 24 ; The 42 represents the reversal of the civilian 24 represents. Because of the Treaty of Versailles regulated arms limitations for the German Reich, it was built either in Germany, yet to be tested. The aircraft was delivered from the Linham branch in southern Sweden and, largely identical to the Junkers K 30 , was intended for export to the Soviet Union . The 23 bombers were delivered to the Fili branch near Moscow in 1926/27 , where they were then completed with weapons installations. In the Soviet Union they were given the type designation JuG-1 . Under this type designation, after being retired from the military in 1931, with minor modifications, they were still used in passenger and goods transport.
