The Junkers J 15 aircraft was created in 1920 as the result of preliminary investigations into a small and light cantilever high- wing aircraft . In addition to the pilot , two passengers could be carried. The machine was equipped with a 118 kW Mercedes / Daimler D IIIa engine. The aircraft also made it possible to mount the wings at a position below the passenger cabin, so that the aircraft could be converted into a low- wing aircraft . This made comparisons between these two wing positions.

The passenger cabin was generously designed and the high-lying wings gave the passengers an excellent view.

Since the cockpit was arranged behind the closed passenger cabin, the ground view of the pilot was severely restricted by the wing arrangement. In addition, exhaust gases penetrated the cockpit. The type was therefore not pursued further, but the findings in the Junkers K 16 were used.
