The Junkers T 22 aircraft was a variant of the Junkers T 21 type . It is a shoulder- wing fighter aircraft that was built as a model aircraft for the USSR . The first flight took place on November 30, 1923.
development
Compared to the T 21, in addition to the omission of the observer seat in front, the main point was the wing mounted directly on top of the fuselage. This improved the pilot's view upwards, but there were problems with landing and take-off. In addition, the aircraft got out of control in certain situations during testing. This led to far-reaching changes in the second prototype, which only took off on its first flight on June 25, 1924. Ultimately, however, the type did not pass the Soviet type test and was therefore not pursued further.
The T 22 was equipped with a BMW IIIa engine with 136 kW. Only 2 of the T 22 were built with serial numbers 407 and 408.
