Juwel is the debut album by Frida Gold . It contains German-language songs that contain a mix of pop , electro and disco . The album and the single What should we dream of were awarded gold.
background
Most of the songs were written two and a half years before they were released, when front singer Alina Süggeler and bassist Andreas “Andi” Weizel were a couple. All songs have been written and composed by the band members themselves. When the band signed a major deal with Warner Music, the album was almost ready before the deal. So the record company stayed out of the recordings and had little influence on the production. The studio album was recorded in collaboration with producer Carsten Heller, first in Denmark, then in Cologne and Hamburg, and in a small studio of their own. Then the recordings were sent to the USA for mastering. The song Show me how you dance , which was used for a mobile phone advertising, was released as the first single . Süggeler commented on this in an interview with news.de:
“In the end we were faced with the decision: Either we use the platform and a lot of people will notice our music overnight and afterwards we have the chance to design everything ourselves. Or we don't and we have to hope for another platform. Before that, we had two years of hard work behind us and decided together after the campaign to ensure that Frida Gold was quickly filled with real emotions and real roots. "
The single was able to place in the German and Austrian charts. Another single called What shall we dream of was released on April 1st, 2011.

review
2live4music rates the album positively and praises the fact that a debut album with so many strong songs is otherwise in short supply. Only the song Come to my home couldn't convince. On the other hand, because love is ... , because it deals with the topic of love in a non-kitschy way and Süggeler can show her voice there in full splendor.
