At the age of 17 he signed his first record deal with the major label Sony Music Entertainment with his then band Hyperchild . The first single was already in the charts, but the band broke up after two years due to creative differences. As the singer of Hyperchild, he had his first television interview with Mola Adebisi on Viva. After the band broke up, he started a solo career and called himself bosses from 2003 onwards . At this point, drummer Björn Krüger, guitarist Thorsten Sala and bassist Theofilos Fotiadis (ex-members of Uncle Ho and Heyday) joined them and, together with pianist Tobias Philippen ( PeterLicht ), formed the core of Bosses live band. The current line-up (2016) consists of Thorsten Sala (guitar), Theofilos Fotiadis (bass, bass ukulele), Stefan Lenkeit (keyboards), Chris Heiny (drums, percussion), Niklas Hardt (cello), Martin Wenk (trumpet, French horn , Guitar) and Valentine Romanski (backing vocals, keyboards).

In 2005 the EMI label released their debut album Kamikazeherz and Bosse played with his band as the opening act for Such a Surge , Madsen and Mando Diao . In 2006 the second solo album Guten Morgen Spinner followed , which was recorded together with producer Moses Schneider in just seven days. In the following year, Bosse parted ways with the label. At the beginning of 2009 he released the album Taxi himself in cooperation with his management Scoop Music and the distribution of Rough Trade Distribution . Three singles were released from the cooperation with Jochen Naaf ( PeterLicht , Polarkreis 18 ). Afterwards, Bosse worked with the electronic DJ Oliver Koletzki . The song U-Bahn was also released in 2009 on Koletzki's record label Stil vor Talent .

The album Wartesaal , on which Bosse had written twelve songs, was released in early 2011; the song Frankfurt / Oder , a duet with the actress Anna Loos from the band Silly , was recorded earlier. With this title, Bosse entered the 2011 Bundesvision Song Contest for Lower Saxony and took third place. The cover version Zoutelande , recorded by the Dutch band Bløf together with the Flemish singer Geike Arnaert , reached number 1 in the mega top 50 and Dutch top 40 and number 3 in the Dutch charts in January and February 2018 .

With the title Anyway , he competed again for Lower Saxony in the 2013 Bundesvision Song Contest . With 153 points he succeeded in winning ahead of Johannes Oerding and MC Fitti .

On March 8, 2013, his fifth album, Kraniche, was released. Philipp Steinke was involved in the production and also produced for the Duo Boy . Bosse wrote some songs in Istanbul , where he spent several months with his wife and daughter. In Umbria Steinke set up a music studio in a country house, where the album was partially recorded. Influences of his trip to Istanbul and Umbria can be seen, for example the Saz is used in the song Istanbul . Compared to his two previous albums Taxi and Waiting Room , the arrangements are more extensive, for example choirs and trumpets are used.

After a break in 2015, the sixth album Engtanz was released on February 12, 2016, on which Axel Bosse, as a songwriter, deals with connections to others and himself. Among other things, there was a collaboration with Casper for the song "Krumme Symphonie". The album reached number 1 in the German charts as the first Bosse album.

In 2018, Bosse released the song Alles ist Jetzt , announcing his upcoming album of the same name.
