The Kosmonaut Festival was a German music festival that took place annually from 2013 to 2019 at the Oberrabenstein reservoir near Chemnitz and was founded by members of the Kraftklub band . It took place on one day in 2013 and was extended to two days in 2014. In February 2020 it was announced that the festival will no longer take place.
history
The Kosmonaut Festival took place for the first time in summer 2013 on the initiative of the band Kraftklub from Chemnitz and was immediately sold out. The Oberrabenstein reservoir in Chemnitz , which was also used for the splash! Festival until 2006, was chosen as the venue . The aim of the festival was, for Chemnitz after the splash! to build a relevant music festival again in the Ferropolis . The spaceman Sigmund Jähn was indirectly named after it .
The bands Abby , Ahzumjot and Frittenbude played as headliners in 2013 , and the initiator band Kraftklub, who performed under the name "Kosmonauten", came as a surprise act. According to its own information, the organizing team of the organizer “Landstreicher Booking” worked closely with the “splash!” Team. The splash! -Mag is also the media partner of the Kosmonaut Festival.
Due to its success, the festival was extended to two days in 2014 and the program expanded accordingly, and camping was also made possible during the festival. In addition to headliners such as Casper and Alligatoah , who played on the main stage, as in the previous year, other bands played on the Blume Open Air stage, which is primarily intended for electronic music.
