The place was first mentioned in 1336 and was owned by Konrad von Karlsbrunn. According to an old legend, the village was originally called Langendorf and Charles IV is said to have drank from a spring here.
Another legend has to do with the old castle. According to this, a Swedish funeral procession for St. Birgitta is said to have been attacked in 1374 by the robber barons residing at the castle. Over the centuries, the castle, about which little is known in detail, was gradually demolished, so that apart from a rubble mound no more of it has been preserved.
Karlsbrunn belonged to the Premonstratensian monastery Litomyšl . In 1430 the Gothic Bartholomäus Church was built, which was parish to Blumenau and then from 1677 to Abtsdorf .
1930 lived in the village in Schönhengstgau including the district Mährisch Rausendorf 775 mostly German residents.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and belonged to the district of Zwittau until 1945 .
