Kirsi Boström

Kirsi Helene Boström (born Tiira ; born May 20, 1968 in Parikkala ) is a former Finnish orienteer .

Kirsi Tiira started running in the Orienteering World Cup in 1988 . In 1989 she won the Venla with the Helsingin NMKY season . Another success in this competition followed in 1998 with the season of Ankkuri fishing slings . Her first participation in the World Cup was in Czechoslovakia in 1991, when she finished 15th in both individual competitions. In 1993 she won the Nordic championship on the short distance as well as the Finnish relay and finished eighth and fifth in the individual races at the World Championships in the United States. The Finnish relay team also won the silver medal behind Sweden with Tiira. In 1995 the Finns won the relay race. In addition to Tiira, Reeta-Mari Kolkkala , Eija Koskivaara and Annika Viilo ran in the season . At the 1997 World Championships in Grimstad , Norway , she missed a medal in the long distance by four seconds, and it wasn't until 1999 in Scotland that she managed to win a world championship medal in singles. Boström relegated defending champion Hanne Staff from Norway to second place on the long distance . She also won silver with the relay. The 2001 home world championships in Tampere were the last international championships in Boströms.

She is married to the Finnish orienteer Mikael Boström . Her younger sister Johanna Asklöf was also an internationally successful orienteer.
