La Plaine is a French commune with a population of 873 (as at 1st January 2017) in the department of Maine-et-Loire in the region of Pays de la Loire . It belongs to the Arrondissement Cholet (until 2017: Arrondissement Saumur ) and the canton Cholet-2 (until 2015: Canton Vihiers ). The inhabitants are called the Plainais .
geography
La Plaine is about 18 kilometers east of Cholet . The Ouère limits the municipality in the southwest. La Plaine is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Coron in the north, Saint-Hilaire-du-Bois in the north-east, Saint-Paul-du-Bois in the east, Somloire in the south and south-east, Yzernay in the south-west and Chanteloup-les-Bois in the west and north-west .
