history

The municipality of Le Pâquier was settled very early, which has been proven by traces that were discovered in 1910 and date from the Middle Bronze Age . Since the Middle Ages , Le Pâquier was part of the county of Gruyères and shared its fortunes. The village belonged to the Kastlanei La Tour-de-Trême.

After the Counts of Gruyères went bankrupt in 1554, Le Pâquier came to Freiburg in 1555 and was assigned to the Bailiwick of Gruyères. In 1784 a mineral spring was discovered south of the village. The spring water was used to feed the Montbarry baths. After the collapse of the Ancien Régime (1798), Haut-Intyamon initially belonged to the prefecture and from 1848 to the Gruyères district.

Today the merger of Le Pâquier with the neighboring town of Gruyères is under discussion.

Culture and religion

Le Pâquier has had its own parish since 1919, before it belonged to the Gruyères parish.
