The men's high jump at the 1954 European Athletics Championships was held on August 27 and 29, 1954 in the Neufeld Stadium in Bern .
In this competition there were two medals for Czechoslovakia: silver and bronze. The Swedish European record holder Bengt Nilsson became European champion . He won ahead of Jiří Lanský and Jaroslav Kovář.

Record improvement
European champion Bengt Nilsson improved the existing EM record in the final by two centimeters to 2.02 m.

The eighteen participants competed in a joint qualifying round. The qualification height for the direct entry into the final was 1.90 m. Twelve jumpers qualified for the final (highlighted in light blue).
