Linda (Elster) is a district of the town of Jessen (Elster) in the district of Wittenberg in the eastern part of the state of Saxony-Anhalt .

location

Linda is located 12 km northeast of Jessen (Elster), on the L 113 between Mügeln and the B 101, 2.5 km away . The addition of "Elster" to the name refers to the Black Elster, which flows by about 10 km away .

history

Until 1952 the municipality belonged to the (Land) Kreis Schweinitz (renamed in 1950 to Herzberg District ) and thus to Saxony-Anhalt. Linda assigned the subsequent district area reform to the Jessen district in the Cottbus district for the rest of the GDR . On October 3, 1990, the Jessen district and with it Linda again became part of the restored state of Saxony-Anhalt. From 1994 to 2004 the community then belonged to the Holzdorf administrative community . On March 1, 2004 it was incorporated into the town of Jessen (Elster).

traffic

Linda (Elster) has a train station on the Jüterbog – Riesa railway line . Regional express trains on the Brandenburg line RE 3 Stralsund / Schwedt - Angermünde - Berlin - Falkenberg stop there every two hours . The train station is about 1.5 km from the town center.
