geography

location

The Lindenberg is located in the Habichtswald Nature Park in the municipality of Schauenburg . Its summit rises just under 2 km north of Breitenbach , around 2.5 km northwest of Hoof and around 2.2 km northeast of Martinhagen , which are all parts of the municipality of Schauenburg, and just under 3 km (as the crow flies ) south of Ehlen , a part of the municipality Habichtswald . The mountain is part of a north-northwest foothill branching off from the Langenberge and stretching over the Burgberg to the Lindenberg.

Natural allocation

The Lindenberg belongs to the natural spatial main unit group West Hessian mountain and sink country (No. 34) and in the main unit Habichtswälder Bergland (342) to the natural area Hoofer Pforte (342.01), which extends from north of the hilltop as a valley basin along the upper reaches of the Bauna to the southeast pulls. The landscape falls south to west into the natural area of Breitenbacher Mulde (342.10) and to the north into the natural area of Zierenberger Grund (342.11), which belong to the subunit Habichtswälder Basin (342.1).

Neighboring peaks

To the south-east of the Lindenberg, which is wooded in its high areas, the Great Schönberg ( 482.8  m ), which is only wooded on the north flank , then the little wooded Schönberg (approx.  442  m ) and finally the partly wooded Burgberg ( 499.9 m ) join  the Castle ruins of Schauenburg as other elevations of the Hoofer gate. Here the Schönberge can be seen as a sub-peak of the Lindenberg.

Watershed and rivers

A section of the Diemel-Eder / Fulda / Weser watershed runs over the Lindenberg between the western Wattenberg ( 516.2  m ), a Hinterhabichtswälder knoll , and the east-northeast Hohen Gras ( 614.8  m ), the highest mountain in the Hohen Habichtswald : The warmth that flows northwest of the mountain and runs to the north flows into the Diemel , the Ems , which passes it at some distance to the southwest, flows south into the Fulda tributary Eder and the Bauna , which rises a little east of the mountain, drains southeast into the Fulda . All of these rivers are part of the Weser river system .

Wind farm

In December 2012, the Schauenburg municipal council decided to build a wind farm on the Lindenberg. Five systems are to be built, each with a hub height of 140 m. The project planning is carried out by the company "GP Joule".

In September 2013, the wind power plan appeared in the press in connection with an alleged endangerment of the world heritage title of the Wilhelmshöhe mountain park . The community does not see the world heritage title as endangered. According to the municipality, the monument authorities have already been involved in the planning. A visual relationship between the planned facilities and the Hercules does not exist due to the intermediate topography of the Hohen Habichtswald with the high grass . In July 2013, the visual relationships were clarified with a "so-called completeness check in the application process under the Federal Immission Control Act " with the State Office for Monument Preservation in Hesse . Construction of the wind farm is scheduled to begin in autumn 2014.

Traffic and walking

The federal motorway 44 runs north past the Lindenberg between the Zierenberg and Kassel-Bad Wilhelmshöhe junctions in a north-west-south-east direction . These passes under the west of the mountain between Ehlen in the north and Breitenbach in the south in the warm valley running state road  3220, which in Ehlen on the west side of the junction Zierenberg leading national highway 251 and in Breitenbach to the east, past Hoof , Elgershausen and Altenritte the junction Bad Wilhelmshöhe running B 520 meets. For example, starting at the L 3220 or in Breitenbach, you can hike the Lindenberg on field and forest paths. The extra tour H4 of the Habichtswaldsteig leads over its southern highlands . The Hessencourrier cycle path runs south past the mountain through Breitenbach and Martinhagen , and the Warmetal cycle path to the west.
