List of forts in Noricum and Upper Pannonia
In addition to Roman military camps , the list of forts in Noricum and Upper Pannonia also includes burgi and smaller watchtowers that were used to control and defend the outer borders of the Roman provinces of Noricum and Pannonia superior in what is now Bavaria, Austria and Slovakia. The order is from the west, downstream along the Danube to the east to the Slovak capital Bratislava.
The route is divided into the sections Noricum and Upper Pannonia. At the beginning, the forts and Limes facilities around Passau are also run here, as the Inn formed the border between the provinces of Raetia and Noricum. The late antique Boiotro small fort is also mentioned in the Notitia Dignitatum in the list of the Norican military leader, the Dux Pannoniae Primae et Norici Ripensis .
- Route 1 (Noricum) begins at Passau and ends at Zeiselmauer.
- Route 2 (Upper Pannonia) starts at Klosterneuburg and ends at Bratislava (SLO).
