List of Limes forts in Hungary
The list of Limes forts in Hungary includes Roman military camps , watchtowers and burgi, which were responsible for the control and defense of the external border ( Limes Pannonicus ) of the Roman provinces of Pannonia ( Pannonia ) in the area of today's Hungarian state.
The order, route division and naming relates to the discussion as it was comprehensively documented for the first time by Zsolt Visy in his standard work “The Pannonian Limes in Hungary” (see bibliography) for Germany: from the north always along the Danube to the south. Zsolt often counted building complexes, which in their size on the Upper Germanic-Raetian Limes are referred to as “small forts ” or Burgi , among the watchtowers, which is why they are largely missing in the list below. The classification in Wikipedia is based on Visy's list.
