List of countries by poverty rate
The following list sorts countries according to the proportion of the population whose daily income is below 1.90 international US dollars (in 2011 purchasing power parity ). An income of less than $ 1.90 per day is considered absolute poverty . It also states what proportion of the population has to live on less than $ 3.20 per day and less than $ 5.50 per day. Current figures are not available for all countries, so the last available time is given. All data come from the World Bank . The countries with the highest number of poor people are also listed. Two further tables provide an overview of the development of global poverty over the past three decades.
In 2013, a total of 769 million people worldwide lived on less than $ 1.90 a day and thus in absolute poverty, which was 10.7% of the world's population. 2,030 million people (28.3% of the world's population) and 3,479 million (48.4% of the world's population) lived on less than $ 5.50 a day on less than $ 3.20.
