List of tributaries of the Ablach

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Map of the course of the Ablach; the uppermost course to be drawn westwards to Schwackenreute is actually part of the Mindersdorfer Aach

The Ablach is a right tributary of the Danube near Mengen in the Baden-Württemberg district of Sigmaringen and has a length of 32.4 km, a catchment area of 435.5 km² and

In addition, it has only two direct tributaries in the length class of over 10 km, namely

  • the 14.7 km long upstream tributary Krummbach with a catchment area of 66.1 km², which flows from the left at Unterbichtlingen and
  • the 29.7 km long tributary Andelsbach with a catchment area of 152.4 km², which flows from the right at Krauchenwies .

The latter, in turn, also has a tributary in this class, namely

  • the 16.0 km long left lower tributary Kehlbach with a catchment area of 55.2 km².

Table of the direct tributaries of the Ablach

With stationing, i.e. the flow stretch from the Ablach estuary up to the respective tributary, the official water body code (GKZ), the name of the tributary, the mouth side, the length of the inflow and the size of its catchment area, the mouth and the mouth height as well as the source and the Source height.

  • For some tributaries, which flow simply-indirectly via minor tributaries (mill canals, etc.), these streams were named themselves and the stationing of the inflow on the tributary to the Ablach was overpaid. Where the stationing could not be ascertained from the official data, an interpolation was made between the stationed inflow points above and below using a polygon on the river. The stationing - also taken over - is faulty and certainly not accurate to the specified number of digits, but always reflects the sequence of the inflow.
  • For the GKZ, a separator has been inserted after the prefix 1132 common to all of its tributaries, which is the GKZ the Ablach itself. If no GKZ was available, there is a question mark after the prefix that is safe according to the GKZ structure rule.
  • Parenthesized names for tributaries are not found proper names, but makeshift names.
  • The tributaries often include sections with different names, especially upper reaches, which need not be listed here. The upper course selected on the map used was retained, even where another was longer or richer in catchment area, or even both.
  • The terrain difference between the mouth of one tributary and the next is often so small that the reading error or the fluctuation of the bed depth, which cannot be ascertained on the map, can dominate.
  • The catchment areas of the longer left tributaries Krummbach, Grabenbach, Teuerbach and (Menninger) Talbach extend into the Hegaualb karst area , which is why they are not necessarily representative of the water flow. Infiltration can weaken the brooks, elsewhere there may be strong springs from the karst aquifer, which can also be fed from foreign, superficial catchment areas.
  • For evidence, see the →  detailed list below.
  • Background color for the Ablach itself recorded for comparison
  • Background color for the amputated upper reaches of the Mindersdorfer Aach
  • Background color for branches into other river systems (stationing at the outlet)
  • Background color for back-flowing branches (stationing at the return)

Detailed list of the tributaries and lakes in the catchment area of the Ablach

Hierarchical list of tributaries and RiverIcon-SmallLake.svglakes from source to mouth. Length of water, lake area and catchment area and altitude according to the corresponding layers on the LUBW online map. Other sources for the information are noted.
As a rule, no tributaries and mill canals were listed; In the area of the lower branches of the Ennetacher and Mengener Ablach, the respective direct inflows of both branches were continuously listed in the sufficiently parallel flow direction of both branches, although the Mengener Ach is considered a tributary so that the list reflects the natural sequence of the inflows.

Today's origin of the Ablach at about 621  m above sea level. NHN at the dividing weir of the Mindersdorfer Aach between the second and the third of the larger Sauldorf quarry ponds , which are also known as the Schwackenreuter lake district and which were created as quarry ponds during gravel extraction. While the course of the Mindersdorfer Aach northwards follows the western edge of the third lake and then turns through the small pass at the Schwackenreuter railway station southwest to the Stockacher Aach , which it is today the upper course, the course of the young Ablach briefly follows the southern edge of this lake and then moves on , henceforth following its east bank, northward.

In contrast to the winning names, the lettering is also in italics. Perhaps there used to be another pond with this name at the inlet.
