Athletic career

Marcel Fehr has been training since 2005. In his school and youth years, his focus was on the 1,500 and 3,000 meter runs . Over these distances, he repeatedly led the German best list in the respective youth classes for several years.

In 2009 Fehr became German U18 champion over 3000 meters after he had achieved 7th place over this distance four weeks earlier at the youth world championships (U18) .

In 2010 he became German U20 indoor champion over 3000 meters. At the German Cross Country Championships he won the title in the U20 class. Over 1500 meters he came in 6th place at the Junior World Championships (U20) and was German U20 champion on this route .

In 2011 Fehr missed a medal at the European Junior Championships (U20) with 4th place in the 1500 meter run and became German U20 champion in both 3000 and 5000 meters .

2012 was his first season in the active class, but a serious collision with a coffee table, an inflammation of the knee, a virus infection, improper stress due to returning to training too early and problems with the other leg resulted in a loss of the season.

In 2013 Fehr came in at the German Indoor Championships on a 5th place over 3000 meters. But another knee injury from a fall on an ice plate ensured that he did not get in shape in time for the season highlight, because again out of too much ambition he strained his knee too early in the high-altitude training camp in Flagstaff (USA) and came back with Achilles tendon problems, what The qualification for the U23 European Championship in Finland cost him. At the German championships , Fehr even had to give up over 5000 meters.

In 2014 he was German university hall champion over 800 meters in the indoor season and secured bronze at the German indoor championships over 3000 meters. Finally, in his last junior year, he was still German U23 champion in the 5000 meter run. At the end of the year, he led the German annual best list of juniors in the 3000 and 5000 meters.

In 2015 Fehr became German university champion over 1500 meters. Injuries and health problems slowed him down again, most recently a circulatory collapse at the European team championships.

In 2016 he did not contest championships, but took part in meetings.

In 2017, Fehr was again German university champion over 1500 meters and won bronze at the German championships over this distance . With the team competition he became European team champion . At the end of the year, Fehr was in second place in the German annual best list of active athletes in the 3000 and 5000 meters.

In 2018 he came fifth over 5000 meters at the German Championships and 18th at the European Championships in Berlin . At the end of the year Fehr was again in second place in the German annual best list of active athletes in the 3000 and 5000 meters.
