society

Stanković began his career in 1991 at the age of five with DSV Leoben and made his first appearances in the second-rate first division from the 2003/04 season . In the same season he also made a short detour to ASK Voitsberg , but soon came back to the Donawitzern. In his high school year 2005 he moved again to Voitsberg for half a year, where he was used again in some games. In 2007 Stanković was awarded the title "Young Star of the Year" in the first division. In the same year he signed a two-year contract with Bundesliga club SK Sturm Graz . Stanko made his Bundesliga debut on July 11, 2007 against FK Austria Wien , when he came on for Amadou Rabihou in the 83rd minute . Previously used as an attacking midfielder at DSV Leoben, he was only used as a striker for the Blackies . One of his career highlights so far was the game against LASK Linz on July 20, 2007, when Stanko, who had never scored in the Bundesliga before, scored three goals.

On September 9, 2007 he was awarded the “Bruno” for the newcomer of the year by the Austrian Football Association.

On January 15, 2009, Stanković announced that he would not extend his contract with Sturm Graz, which expired in the summer of 2009. He then signed a contract with the Italian second division club US Triestina on January 28, 2009, which runs until 2012 . Although it was initially said that the native of Krems would not move to Italy until the summer, he transferred to the Italian Serie B club on January 31, 2009. On May 20, 2010, FK Austria Wien announced that they would sign the offensive all-rounder from the 2010/11 season after Stanković had terminated his contract there after prior consultation with US Triestina. He signed with Wiener Austria for two years and had an option for another year. With Austria he was Austrian champion in the 2012/13 season. On April 30, 2014 it was announced that Austria Wien would not extend the contract, which expired at the end of May.

At the end of May 2014, Stanković moved back to his ex-club SK Sturm Graz , where he signed a two-year contract plus an option. In September 2014, Marko Stanković and his wife Yvonne opened a fashion store in Grazer Herrengasse , which mainly sells black and white clothing from Italian brands. The boutique is a sister company of Sasa Ridel's KissKissBangBang, which is already established in Vienna . In the 2014/15 season , the offensive player completed 24 Bundesliga games, in which he contributed four goals and two assists; including a double in a 3-2 away win over the then table leaders Red Bull Salzburg . After he came to regular appearances under Darko Milanič , mostly for the full length of the game, he was not always on the pitch for the full 90 minutes or even some under the new era of Franco Foda , when he was increasingly used again in attacking midfield Games not in the squad at all.

On April 11, 2015, Stanković tore a cruciate ligament in the first half in the 5-0 home win over SCR Altach when the score was 1-0 and then had to pause for around six months. During his injury break, the former Austrian international made it into the media after commenting on a Facebook entry by HC Strache . After a six-month injury break, Stanko returned to team training with the professionals in mid-October 2015, and on November 7, 2015 he was back in a competitive game for the first time in a 1-1 draw by the amateurs against Deutschlandsberger SC . In the following week he scored a goal together with Martin Ehrenreich in the last game before the winter break, in a 2-1 away win over SC Weiz , and played again for the full length of the game.

For the 2017/18 season he moved to the second division club SV Ried , where he received a contract valid until June 2019. In January 2018 he moved to India for FC Pune City . After the 2018/19 season, Pune City was dissolved and relocated to Hyderabad , whereupon a large part of the team, including Stanković, joined the newly formed Hyderabad FC .

After 15 games for Hyderabad, he ended his professional career after the 2019/20 season and returned to Austria, where he joined the fourth-class SV Lebring .

National team

He took part in the 2003 U-17 European Football Championship in Portugal , where he was third with Austria . He was also the captain of his country's U-21 team, in which he played 18 games in which he scored six goals. He also played a total of nine U-17 or U-19 internationals, in which he came to a total of two hits.

On November 19, 2008 he made his debut in the A-Team of the Austrian national team under team principal Karel Brückner when he came on in the 70th minute in the 2: 4 against Turkey.
