Miss Ireland
Miss Ireland is a national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Ireland . It existed before the Second World War . From this time winners are known who took part in the Miss Europe election : 1929 Clara Russell-Stritch, 1930 Vera Curram and 1936 Dany O'Moore. The current competition has been run by the Miss World Organization (either directly or through licensees) since the 1950s . In the 1990s, Limerick-based Miss Ireland Beauty Pageant Ltd owned by Kieran Murray owned the event for several years. In 2003 this went to Andrea Roche (Miss Ireland from 1997) and the entrepreneur Mags Humphries , who owns the Assets Model Agency .
The winners traditionally take part in the international elections for Miss World and Miss Europe , previously also for Miss Universe .
From 2004 Murray tried again to carry out competitions under the name Miss Ireland , which Roche, Humphries and the London Miss World Organization of Julia Morley prevented him in court.
