Miss Latvia is a national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Latvia . In Germany it is called Mis Latvija , but the English name Miss Latvia is also used. It has been organized by Inta Fogele and her agency Mis Latvija since 1988 . The winners of the primaries from around 20 cities in the country take part in the final round. These primaries take place in close cooperation with government and community institutions.

Mister Latvia will also be elected at the same event . The country's government supports the competition by funding the licenses to participate in the Miss World and Mister World competitions to promote the country's international image.

Another company, SIA Bravo Productions (founded in 2002), has been determining the Latvian representatives for Miss Universe since 2005 , namely Miss Universe® Latvia.
