Miss Yugoslavia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Miss Yugoslavia ( Serbo-Croatian  Mis Jugoslavije / Мис Југославије ) was a national beauty pageant for unmarried women in Yugoslavia .

It goes back to the 1920s, was interrupted by the Second World War and the subsequent communist rule, but continued in the 1960s. In the other states of the communist camp, however, such competitions were taboo until the 1980s. (See also Miss Poland , Miss Romania , Miss Russia , Miss Czechoslovakia , Miss Hungary ).

There were no elections during the 1992-1995 war .

In 1996 the competition was revived under the name Miss Yu in the rest of Yugoslavia (namely in the republics of Serbia and Montenegro ) and consequently renamed Miss SCG (Miss Serbia and Montenegro) in 2003.

Since Montenegro became independent in 2006, it has only been carried out for Serbia from 2007 ( Miss Srbije ).
