Miss KKTC
Miss KKTC is the annual national beauty contest for unmarried women between the ages of 16 and 25 from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus . The competition was first held in 1987. The full name is Miss Kuzey Kıbrıs (German: Miss North Cyprus ). Because it is very long and unsuitable for international use, the abbreviation is mostly used. In Turkish , the term KKTC Güzellik Yarışması is occasionally used . The inscription on the 2007 winner's sash reads Kuzey Kıbrıs Güzeli 2007 .
The main sponsors are the television station Kıbrıs Genç TV and the model agency Günkut . The owner of the agency, Bülent Günkut , is the organizer of the competition.
At the 22nd edition in early August 2008, Hayriye Aliriza was chosen. Özlem Kaplan also received the title Miss North Cyprus from a competing organizer .
The winners or finalists can not take part in well-known international competitions due to the political situation. However, some have been or will be delegated to less significant elections:
- Miss Asia Pacific : 1987 and 1988, both in Hong Kong
- Miss Globe International : with interruptions from 1990 to 1999 and 2001 to 2003, each in Turkey , 2000 in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus . No participation since 2004 (held in Albania ).
- Miss Kuzey Kıbrıs 2008 was supposed to represent the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Miss Cyprus International , Miss EU Beauty Contest and Miss Fashion TV competitions .

International significance
The winners or finalists do not take part in major international competitions because the organizer does not have the appropriate licenses.
In the Republic of Cyprus , the Star Kypros competition is held , which claims all of Cyprus, but it is only held in Greek . The organizer - the Carlsberg Brewery - holds the international concessions for Miss Universe , Miss World , Miss Europe and Miss International . As a result, the top winners in this competition will represent Cyprus in the aforementioned international beauty competitions.
