Montenero di Bisaccia is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 6312 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Campobasso in Molise .

geography

The municipality is located about 45 kilometers north-northeast of Campobasso and borders directly on the province of Chieti in Abruzzo . The municipal area extends to the coast of the Adriatic Sea. The seaside resort of Marina di Montenero is also located there (12 km north as the crow flies). The Trigno also flows into the sea there.

Culinary specialties

In Montenero, as in Abruzzo, the sausage specialty Ventricina is made, a sausage made from pork, seasoned with salt, paprika, chilli and fennel flowers.
