Huejotitán is a municipality with around 1000 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality has an area of ​​854.3 km². The administrative seat and largest town of the municipality is Huejotitán of the same name .

geography

The municipality of Huejotitán is located in the south of the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1400  m and 2600  m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierra Madre Occidental and lies entirely in the hydrological region Bravo - Conchos and thus drains into the Gulf of Mexico . The geology of the municipality is 42% rhyolite tuff with 33% limestone - lutite and 17% conglomerate rock ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are the Leptosol (58%), Phaeozem (20%) and Regosol (11%). About 76% of the community area is used as pastureland, 20% is forested.

The municipality borders on the municipalities of Rosario , Valle de Zaragoza , Hidalgo del Parral , San Francisco del Oro and El Tule .

In the 2010 census, 1049 people in 331 residential units were counted in the municipality. Of these, ten people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including eight speakers of the Tarahumara language . 9.4 percent of the population were illiterate. 385 residents were registered as economically active, of which around 90% were men and 5.5% were unemployed. 6.7 percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
