Juárez is a municipality with a good 1.3 million inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality has an area of 3550 km². The administrative seat and largest place of the municipality is the metropolis Ciudad Juárez .
The municipality is named after Benito Juárez , a Mexican president.
geography
The Municipio Juárez is located in the extreme north of the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1000 m and 1900 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierras y Llanuras del Norte ; 74% of the municipality are in the hydrological region of the endorheic basin of the Cuencas Cerradas del Norte (Casas Grandes) , while 26% are in the hydrological region of Bravo - Conchos and drain into the Gulf of Mexico . The geology of the municipality is determined to 70% by aeolian sediments with 11% alluvions ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are the Arenosol (42%), Regosol (19%), Calcisol (13%) and Solonetz (10%). 82% of the municipality is taken up by scrub landscape.
Part of the Médanos de Samalayuca is located in the municipality . The municipality borders on the municipalities of Ascensión , Guadalupe and Ahumada as well as on the US states of Texas and New Mexico .
