Aquiles Serdán is a municipality with a good 10,000 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality extends over an area of 495.8 km². The administrative seat and largest place in the municipality is Santa Eulalia .

The municipality, founded in 1844, was dissolved again in 1877, but re-established in 1901 and named after the revolutionary Aquiles Serdán in 1932 .

The municipality of Aquiles Serdán is centrally located in the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1100 m and 2300 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierras y Llanuras del Norte and lies entirely in the hydrological region Bravo - Conchos and thus drains into the Gulf of Mexico . The geology of the municipality is determined to over 42% by rhyolite tuff with 35% alluvion , 11% limestone and 10% conglomerate rock ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are Leptosol (41%), Calcisol (34%), Phaeozem and Luvisol (each about 10%). 73% of the community area is taken up by scrub landscape, 25% is used as pastureland.

The municipality is surrounded by the municipalities Chihuahua , Aldama and Rosales .

In the 2010 census, 10,688 people were counted in 2323 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 55 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 37 speakers of the Tarahumara language . About 3.4% of the population were illiterate. 5283 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 78% were men and approx. 4.2% were unemployed. About one percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
