Hidalgo del Parral is a municipality with a good 107,000 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality has an area of 1926.9 km². The administrative seat and largest place of the municipality is the Hidalgo del Parral of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Hidalgo del Parral is located in the south of the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1300 m and 2400 m . 64% of it belongs to the physiographic province of the Sierras y Llanuras del Norte , the rest belongs to the Sierra Madre Occidental . The municipality lies entirely in the hydrological region Bravo - Conchos and thus drains into the Gulf of Mexico . The geology of the municipality is determined by 29% conglomerate rock with 26% rhyolite tuff , 23% limestone - lutite and 7% each of limestone-lutite- sandstone and alluvion ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are Calcisol (39%), Phaeozem and Leptosol (each 24%). About 82% of the municipality is used as pasture land, about 6% each is taken up by forest or by scrub landscape, 4% are used for arable farming.
