Bachíniva is a municipality with a good 6000 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality has an area of 953.5 km². The administrative seat and largest place in the municipality is Bachíniva of the same name .

geography

The Municipio Bachíniva is centrally located in the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1800 m and 3000 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierra Madre Occidental and lies entirely in the endorheic basin of the Cuencas Cerradas del Norte . The geology of the municipality is determined to 49% by rhyolite tuff with 36% conglomerate rock and about 7% each basalt and alluvion ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are the Leptosol (27%), Phaeozem (24%), Durisol and Regosol (each about 18%). 58% of the municipality is forested, 34% is used for arable farming, 6% is used as pasture land.

The municipality is surrounded by the municipalities Namiquipa , Cuauhtémoc and Guerrero .

population

The 2010 census counted 6011 people in 1948 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 86 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 69 speakers of the Tarahumara language . About 4.9% of the population were illiterate. 2175 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which approx. 83% were men and approx. 8.6% were unemployed. 2.6% of the population lived in extreme poverty.
