Delicias is a municipality with about 138,000 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality has an area of 533.9 km². The administrative seat of the municipality and its largest town is the Delicias of the same name .

geography

The Municipio Delicias is located in the center of the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 1100 m and 1400 m . The municipality lies entirely in the physiographic province of the Sierras y Llanuras del Norte and lies entirely in the hydrological region Bravo - Conchos and drains into the Gulf of Mexico . 50% of the geology of the municipality is determined by alluvions with 44% conglomerate rock ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are Cambisol , Calcisol (28% each), Kastanozem (24%) and Chernozem (10%). 59% of the community area is used for arable farming, 30% is taken up by the undergrowth.

The Municipio borders on the Municipios Rosales , Meoqui and Saucillo .

In the 2010 census, 137,935 people were counted in 39,093 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 1,218 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language , including 308 speakers of the Tarahumara language , 301 speakers of Zapotec , 153 speakers of Tlapanec and 144 speakers of Mixtec . 2.7 percent of the population were illiterate. 58,147 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which 64% were men and 5% were unemployed. Two percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
