Guadalupe is a municipality with about 6500 inhabitants in the Mexican state of Chihuahua . The municipality has an area of 6001 km². The administrative seat and largest place in the municipality is Guadalupe of the same name .
geography
The municipality of Guadalupe is located in the north of the state of Chihuahua at an altitude between 900 m and 2200 m . It belongs entirely to the physiographic province of the Sierras y Llanuras del Norte . 67% of the municipality lies in the hydrological region Bravo - Conchos and drains into the Gulf of Mexico , the rest lies in the endorheic basin of the Cuencas Cerradas del Norte (Casas Grandes) . The geology of the municipality is determined to 41% by alluvions with 21% conglomerate rock and 17% limestone ; The predominant soil types in the municipality are Calcisol (41%), Leptosol (31%) and Regosol (18%). A good 87% of the municipality is covered by undergrowth, 4% serve as pastureland. Part of the Médanos de Samalayuca is located in the municipality .
The municipality is surrounded by the municipalities Juárez , Práxedis G. Guerrero , Ojinaga , Coyame del Sotol and Ahumada and also borders the US state of Texas .

The 2010 census counted 6,458 people in 1,734 residential units in the municipality. Of these, 22 people were registered as speakers of an indigenous language . 4.6 percent of the population were illiterate. 2102 inhabitants were registered as economically active, of which around 75% were men and 5.8% were unemployed. 8.4 percent of the population lived in extreme poverty.
