NGC 333A is an elliptical galaxy in the constellation Whale , approximately 725 million light years from the Milky Way . Nearby is another galaxy, for which the number NGC 333B has been assigned.

The galaxy pair was discovered as an object by the German astronomer Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht Tempel in 1877 and registered as NGC 333. Only later did the differentiation into two galaxies take place.
