NGC 6143 is a 13.1 mag light barred spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBbc in the constellation Dragon in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 245 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 ly in diameter.
The object was discovered on April 24, 1789 by Wilhelm Herschel with an 18.7-inch reflector telescope, who described it as "pB, iR, vgvlbM".
