NGC 6162 is a 13.6 likes bright lenticular galaxy of Hubble type S0 in the constellation Hercules at the northern sky . It is an estimated 506 million light years away from the Milky Way and about 135,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is a member of the Hickson Compact Group 82. In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6161 and NGC 6163 .

The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on June 30, 1870 .
