NGC 6163 is a 14.4 likes bright barred spiral galaxy with extensive star formation from Hubble type SBa in the constellation Hercules at the northern sky . It is an estimated 473 million light years from the Milky Way and about 85,000 light years in diameter. The galaxy is a member of the Hickson Compact Group 82 .

In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 6161 and NGC 6162 .

The object was discovered by Édouard Stephan on June 30, 1870 .
