Nadezhda Wladimirowna Tschischowa ( Russian: Надежда Владимировна Чижова; born September 29, 1945 in Usolye-Sibirskoye in Irkutsk Oblast , Soviet Union ) is a former Soviet athlete and Olympic champion .

Tschischowa dominated from the mid- 60s to mid- 70s the European scene in the shot put . In her athletic career, she improved the world record nine times and won the gold medal in the shot put at the European Championships in 1966 , 1969 , 1971 and 1974 .

At the XIX. At the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico she won the bronze medal behind the two GDR Germans Margitta Gummel (gold) and Marita Lange (silver). At the XX. At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich she was in top form and won the gold medal ahead of Margitta Gummel (silver) and Bulgarian Iwanka Christowa (bronze). At the end of her sporting career, she had already passed the peak of her performance in the XXI. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montréal , everything went again and won the silver medal behind Iwanka Christowa (gold) and in front of the Czechoslovak Helena Fibingerová (bronze).
