The November is the eleventh month of the year in the Gregorian calendar . He has 30 days . November begins on the same day of the week as March and, except in leap years, also as February .

etymology

Old German names for the Latin term November are Windmond (introduced by Charlemagne in the 8th century ), winter month and Nebelung . In the Netherlands , the month also was battle moon or Schlachte month called because at that time the Einschlachten the pig was common. Due to the numerous occasions to commemorate the dead, November is also known as the month of mourning .

In the Roman calendar was November originally (the ninth month lat . Novem = nine). In 153 BC However, the beginning of the year was brought forward by two months, so that the direct relationship between name and month count was lost.
