Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 / Participant (Austria)
Austria took part in the 48th Nordic World Ski Championships , which were held from February 23 to March 6, 2011 in Oslo , Norway , with 24 athletes (21 men, 3 women).
In total, the athletes of the Austrian Ski Association won 10 medals, including seven gold medals , five of them in ski jumping for men and women and 2 in Nordic combined , as well as two silver and one bronze medal. With these successes and second place in the medal table, these world championships count to date as the most successful Nordic World Ski Championships of the Austrian Ski Association.
Cross-country skiing
In the cross-country skiing competitions Austria was represented by 9 men and one woman. Manuel Hirner was not used as a substitute.

Nordic combination
The Nordic combined team consisted of 6 athletes, with Tobas Kammerlander remaining as a substitute. The head coach of the combiners was Christoph Eugen . The two team competitions in which the Austrians with final runner Mario Stecher only triumphed razor-thinly (0.1 and 0.4 seconds) ahead of the German team were outstanding.

Ski jumping
The men's ski jumping team consisted of 6 members, with Manuel Fettner not being used as a substitute. The athletes of the ÖSV won the gold medal in all five competitions (four of the men and one of the women). Gregor Schlierenzauer and Thomas Morgenstern were crowned triple world champions with their respective individual titles and the two gold medals in the team competitions. Alexander Pointner was the head coach of the men's team . In the women's category, the favorite Daniela Iraschko was crowned the first Austrian ski jumping world champion after she surprisingly failed to succeed at the 2009 World Championships.
